Veidekke ASA to Renovate Office Building in Stockholm

Veidekke’s Swedish subsidiary, Arcona, has been commissioned by Fabege AB to renovate and expand the Kv. Påsen 1 property in Hammarby Sjöstad, Stockholm. The design and build contract is valued at approximately SEK 221 million, with work set to begin in January 2023 and expected to be completed by December 2024.

Project Scope

Originally a bag factory, the Kv. Påsen 1 property currently consists of offices. It was built in 1955 in an industrial area developed in stages during the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. The renovation and expansion project will transform the property into approximately 12,600 m2 of modern office space, designed to meet the needs of the future workplace. Upon completion, the building will be certified to BREEAM Bespoke level Excellent.

Project Progress

Arcona and Fabege are currently in phase 2 of the project, following the completion of building design and production preparations in phase 1.

“We are excited to develop Kv. Påsen 1 with Arcona,” said Stefan Windefalk, Director of Project Renovation at Fabege. “Hammarby Sjöstad is a vibrant and welcoming district, and the renovated property will add both to the cityscape and the contents of the site.”

Mimmie Sundin, Business Director at Arcona, added, “We look forward to working with Fabege on the renovation and expansion of Kv. Påsen 1. The project has a strong focus on sustainability, which we are thrilled to contribute to.”

Project Timeline

The contract will be included in Veidekke’s Q4 2022 order book.
