In the upcoming version of Edge, you will be able to change the style of the columns between narrow, medium or wide. This option is called “Text Column Style” and it will appear under the text preferences of Immersive Reader.
Sleep tab can set time interval
One of the flagship features of Microsoft Edge is the sleep tag, which in some cases can save up to 43% of memory .
Starting from version 94, users can put tabs to sleep only after 30 seconds of inactivity instead of 5 minutes.
You can change this time interval by going to Settings>System>Performance>Sleep tab.
In the Canary build, Microsoft also added a new status indicator to help users better understand the benefits of sleep tags. As you can see in the screenshot below, you can quickly via the mouse hovers over the tab to see the specific memory savings.
Microsoft is still testing the new sleep label indicator, and it should be available to everyone in the near future.
Other improvements in Microsoft Edge
Version 94 promises to provide better notification support for progressive web (PWA) applications installed using Microsoft Edge. After the update, web application alerts will no longer appear as coming from the browser. Instead, web apps will eventually use their own names in push notifications to provide an experience similar to native apps.
In terms of security, Microsoft Edge will enable CET hardware-dependent control flow security features on supported hardware.
Microsoft is still developing a new Fluent Design for Chromium Edge, but some design changes, such as the Mica effect, will only appear on Windows 11.
