Microsoft Edge will introduce new features to improve sleep tags in the next few days

The next update of Microsoft Edge is version 94, which will bring some new features and improvements. The 94 version is currently available in the development channel of the Edge Insider program, and Microsoft is beginning to allow users to try some new features, which will be released to everyone in the next few days. According to the official update log and roadmap, Edge 94 is expected to introduce a new immersive reading experience and make additional improvements to the sleep label. We will also get a new price history feature, which will help you find the best time to buy a product.

According to the official update log, you will be able to view price changes on Amazon.com and 9 other retailers. Microsoft believes that this new price history will make it easier for users to discover and purchase products, and it is part of the browser’s built-in shopping voucher tool.

Immersive Reader has more customization capabilities

When you read long and detailed articles on websites such as Wikipedia, Microsoft Edge’s immersive reader provides a distraction-free experience. It changes the default font and background so you can focus on the content and download It will get better in one update. In the upcoming version of Edge, you will be able to change the style of the columns between narrow, medium or wide. This option is called “Text Column Style” and it will appear under the text preferences of Immersive Reader.

Sleep tab can set time interval

One of the flagship features of Microsoft Edge is the sleep tag, which in some cases can save up to 43% of memory .

Starting from version 94, users can put tabs to sleep only after 30 seconds of inactivity instead of 5 minutes.

You can change this time interval by going to Settings>System>Performance>Sleep tab.

In the Canary build, Microsoft also added a new status indicator to help users better understand the benefits of sleep tags. As you can see in the screenshot below, you can quickly via the mouse hovers over the tab to see the specific memory savings.

Microsoft is still testing the new sleep label indicator, and it should be available to everyone in the near future.

Other improvements in Microsoft Edge

Version 94 promises to provide better notification support for progressive web (PWA) applications installed using Microsoft Edge. After the update, web application alerts will no longer appear as coming from the browser. Instead, web apps will eventually use their own names in push notifications to provide an experience similar to native apps.

In terms of security, Microsoft Edge will enable CET hardware-dependent control flow security features on supported hardware.

Microsoft is still developing a new Fluent Design for Chromium Edge, but some design changes, such as the Mica effect, will only appear on Windows 11.
