President Avent Recognized as Most Influential Business Executive
Randy K. Avent, President of Florida Polytechnic University, has been named as one of the most influential business executives by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. The publication recently revealed its annual Power 100 list, acknowledging the business leaders who have generated the biggest impact in the Tampa Bay region.
Third Consecutive Year on the List
This marks President Avent’s third consecutive year on the prestigious list. “I’m honored to receive this recognition,” said Avent. “Especially among so many others leading the way to economic growth here in Florida.”
Impact on the Region
Since joining Florida Poly as its founding President in 2014, Avent has worked tirelessly to make the university a leading STEM institution. His efforts are paying off, as the university’s reputation continues to grow and its economic impact on the region becomes more apparent. “This distinction means that industry is taking notice of our expanding economic impact on the region,” said Avent.
Research Park and Partnership with Fortune 500 Company
President Avent is also leading an effort to create a vibrant research park anchored by the university. Tech companies will collaborate closely with faculty and students, and Fortune 500 company IFF has already started building its Global Citrus Innovation Center on campus as the university’s first research partner on site.
Florida Poly has achieved several major milestones within the past year, including: repeating as the No. 1 public college in the region in U.S. News & World Report’s rankings, opening its state-of-the-art Applied Research Center, and having graduates earn the highest salaries one year after graduation among all Florida public colleges, according to MyFloridaFuture.
