FairWind chosen as installation partner for Horizonte Wind Park in Chile
FairWind, a leading global provider of one-stop solutions for the installation and service of onshore and offshore wind turbines, has been selected as the installation partner for the Horizonte Wind Park in Chile. The Horizonte Wind Park, with a capacity of 778 MW, is currently the largest onshore wind farm under construction in Latin America.
Installation of 140 Enercon E-160 EP5 wind turbines
FairWind will be responsible for installing 140 Enercon E-160 EP5 wind turbines at the site, beginning in February 2023 and targeting full operation by May 2024. “As one of the world’s biggest suppliers of wind turbine installation, we have the experience and capabilities necessary to handle a project of this size,” said Dan Lund, Chief Sales Officer at FairWind. “The Horizonte project is a solid foundation for our South American operations, as well as an important part of our strategy to expand geographically in this region.”
Location and environmental benefits
The Horizonte Wind Farm is located 130 km northeast of the Taltal municipality and 80 km east of the Paposo town in the Antofagasta region of Chile. It is expected to reduce up to 1.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year, making it a significant contributor to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the region.
